When does SAP ECC support end?
SAP mainstream maintenance for SAP ECC ends in December 2027. SAP offers optional extended maintenance until the end of 2030 at an additional cost, and S/4HANA is supported until at least 2040.
What is the difference between a greenfield and a brownfield S/4HANA project?
Greenfield is a new implementation: you redesign your processes around SAP best practices and migrate only the data you need. Brownfield is a system conversion: your existing ECC system, including configuration, custom code and history, is converted to S/4HANA. The right choice depends on how well your current processes and customizations still fit your business.
What is a sandbox conversion?
A trial conversion of a copy of your ECC system to S/4HANA. It shows the real impact on your custom code, data and interfaces before you commit to a project plan and budget.
What happens to our custom code?
Custom code is analyzed for compatibility with S/4HANA. Code that's still needed is adapted, and code that standard S/4HANA now covers can be retired, which simplifies future upgrades and moves you toward a clean core.
Should we choose RISE with SAP, private cloud or public cloud?
It depends on how much you customize SAP and how you prefer to pay for it. S/4HANA Public Cloud offers standardized processes with regular automatic updates. Private cloud, including RISE with SAP, keeps more flexibility. We'll help you compare the options for your business.
